Derma E is a vegan and cruelty-free skincare brand dedicated to health, wellness, and environmental sustainability.

Their Purifying Daily Detox Scrub and 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask is a charming duo that's safe for exfoliating and cleansing sensitive reactive skin. There are definitely no nasty parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, artificial colors, petrolatum, mineral oil, gluten, soy, or genetically-modified organisms in their formulas.

Apparently, these two are geared more for oily skin. Lucky me! However, the winter weather dries out my skin, but these have proven to soothe that as well.

Key ingredients for both are:
  • Activated charcoal
  • Apricot seed powder
  • Kimarine┬« wakame
  • Bladderwrack==
Altogether...

...these ingredients work together to exfoliate and decongest your pores while providing your skin with hydration, nourishment, and protection from environmental pollutants.

KIMARINE® WAKAME is selectively extracted from the edible seaweed Undaria pinnatifida. It buffs natural defenses to protect against pollutants such as exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke. It also helps to even skin tone!

BLADDERWRACK, or Fucus vesiculosus, is a mineral-rich seaweed that balances the skin's moisture levels by tackling toxins that cause dryness and excess fluid retention.

The PURIFYING DAILY DETOX SCRUB is a pretty color with a neutral smell, and I've been using it every other day or so. My winter skin is more fragile than usual, but this scrub is so gentle. No irregular, sharp chunks scraping my skin, and the menthol also gives a refreshing feeling.

After washing it off, my skin feels less oily, more hydrated, and gradually smoother every day that I use it! Other exfoliating scrubs have left little cuts or caused lovely break outs, but so far I've had neither cuts nor bad reactions and my skin is getting back to its natural glow again!

Some other notable ingredients that this scrub has is organic Aloe vera gel extract, organic green tea leaf extract, and menthol as mentioned.

The PURIFYING 2-IN-1 CHARCOAL MASK is more wet and comes in less quantity (1.7 oz versus 4 oz). It's a weekly mask that dries in several minutes, followed by wetting it again to be used as a scrub before washing it all off. There's no menthol and, like any other clay mask, I do have to use lotion after.

My face feels pretty much the same as with the scrub, but as explained by Labmuffin, activated charcoal takes a while to reach full effect and it also needs a little harassment to pick up dirt, so this mask process sounds just about right. It's hard to compare both products when they've both been working together to fix my face.

Some other notable ingredients in this mask are Aloe vera leaf juice, kaolin clay, bentonite clay, Canadian Willowherb, and provitamin B5 d-panthenol.

In conclusion...

I. The Purifying Daily Detox Scrub is great for combatting deadness and revealing your true skin everyday, which I find to be more useful because my skin is on Death March mode. If you like a soft, minty feeling on your face, you'll definitely like this scrub.

II. The Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask is like the relaxing cherry-on-top weekend treat, and while I do need a daily scrub, this 2-in-1 mask seems to exfoliate just as well, accomplishing the same basic goals from a different angle.
